Case Stories
Graphic design involves, in part, research and collaboration with the client; brainstorming with team members; and sometimes you must climb into your mind palace with all your resources and ponder, sift, shake, bake, and take the hero's journey!
Allison Robbins of Aspect6 Creative brought me in to help design a new Mascot for the Muncie Sanitary District, a city service unit responsible for trash removal, sewage and water treatment, and recycling. The initial concepts focused on a mascot for recycling and trash/recycling pickup. For this, I created a character named Curbie. The ideas then shifted to local wildlife, specifically native bird species, for which I introduced Goldie, Hermione, and Oakley. Finally, an MSD employee mentioned "Transformers" and excitement began to ramp up! I sketched a being called a "recyclon" and the District representatives loved it -- and that is the Origin of Recyclor!
